HEALTHCARE'S WICKED PROBLEMS
The initiative, a collaboration between the Strategic Management Forum and Vision4Health, will look at Healthcare's Wicked Problems and How to Fix Them. Wicked problems are existential threats that are complex to understand, solve or manage. This is a good description of many problems in the healthcare system. In truth, healthcare is a highly complex system-of-systems, often interdependent and involving a large number of actors. New technologies and new ways of thinking offer massive opportunities for transformational improvements in healthcare and the quality of lives., but systemic changes required to realise these benefits can seem daunting. Vision4Health has been investigating the opportunities and, together with the Strategic Management Forum, this program will explore the strategic management issues that need to be addressed if we are to seize the opportunities a patient-centred approach to healthcare in a digital world could provide.
